Story
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
We are reaching out to y’all to ask for your support in helping our dearest friend, Naomi, navigate her recent stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. Naomi has written a letter to you all below, but as her friends, we wanted to take a moment to say how much we love our friend.
In the years that we’ve known her (25+) she has taught us what love and friendship is. And we know that this part of her story is one part of a grand story that is Naomi. If you have ever danced with her (or seen her perform), if you’ve ever had the opportunity to marvel at the beautiful vintage treasures that she somehow knows exactly how to find, if you’ve ever seen her art, or listened to her poetry and music, or lost track of time in a deep conversation about life or philosophy, if you’ve crossed oceans with her and hiked mountains, then you too know the magic of Naomi and her story is one of a kind. Now, it’s our turn to show up for her with the same heart and devotion she’s always given so freely. – Asia & Kim
In her own words:
“This isn’t easy for me to share, as I’m usually a private person, but I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in late January and began treatment in March. The doctors have recommended an aggressive treatment plan and I’m now halfway through my chemotherapy journey. Thanks to the support I’ve received so far, I’ve realized how important it is to ask for help. Medical bills and living expenses are piling up, and I’ve come to understand that financial support isn’t just about covering costs. It also provides the space and peace of mind I need to rest, heal, and navigate the tough decisions ahead.
Even with insurance, my out-of-pocket costs are significant. Chemotherapy alone is expected to cost around $8,000, and I still have surgeries and radiation ahead. Because the cancer has spread to not only the lymph nodes under my arm, but also into my neck (the supraclavicular nodes), I’m also exploring other treatment and surgery options—some of which may not be fully covered by insurance.
Your support will not only help cover these essential costs but also give me the peace of mind and time to focus on healing and being with loved ones. Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a meaningful difference in my journey. I am deeply grateful for any support you can offer. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to me and are a crucial part of my path to recovery.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
